A creative exploration into songwriting, improvisation, vocal joy and performing in a safe, fun, multi-million dollar studio in Byron Bay.
“OMG Shelly just injects enthusiasm into Everything. I was Lucky Enough to get to work on a song with her and she took my tentative little song offering and made it into something that sounded so good and had the whole place laughing. I was filled with confidence in the process. While they were giving their resounding applause she was just looking at me going “see… see?? Thats for you. What a gift she is”.
“Shelly Brown is one beautiful singing teacher, holds space for anything and everything to be there, safe and heard. She’s so warm, sensitive, encouraging, soulful. Having singing lessons with her was a really nourishing thing in my life, at a time when I needed it. And my voice grew in so many ways just because it was heard, and safe, with Shelly. it was always fun, and you never have to worry about being cool when you sing with Shelly. She lets you just be yourself and feel that that’s more than ok”.

“ I only had a couple of vocal lessons with Shelly but the difference it made was incredible! She easily helped me find my confidence and made the sessions fun and enjoyable as well. I now deliver my songs in a completely different and far better style (according to people I’ve since performed to)”.
“Shelly Brown is amazing vocal coach. Her crazy, accepting, non-judgemental sessions were always such a pleasure and a highlight of my week. Her way of explaining and showing me how to strengthen my voice is totally unique and really wonderful. I would recommend Shelly to anyone looking for a very positive experience”.
“Shelly Brown is the real deal. She has helped me realise I have more potential and value than I sometimes believe myself. I have met with Shelly for singing lessons now and then but always leave with a richer soul and more passion for music. Don’t hesitate. If you need encouragement and musical guidance from a skilled vocalist, musician and composer Shelly is your woman”.
Frequently Whispered Questions
What if I've never sung in front of anyone before and I'm scared?
It’s ok. Many brave people have felt this way, and come along before you, and they would look you in the eye and assure you this is ok.
I promise I’ll make sure you feel safe and calm. I promise you can hide in voices until you feel ready to give it a go.
We’ll talk it out, and find out what you need to flourish.
It’ll be great. You’ll be great.
Listen to my podcast for a bit. You’ll either love me or hate me I guess. (it’s here)
But I made it so you can start at the start and sus me out, and give yourself some space to figure it out.
It’s ok.
I dreamt up the Songwriting and Vocal Joy Workshops because so many writing classes I went to didn’t have enough singing, and so many singing workshops I go to, don’t have enough songwriting. So, I tried to invent a thing. Come along and tell me if it works for you.
SAE is pretty awesome, I'm thinking about studying there- Is this going to be like the SAE Course, or different?
I’m not an SAE Lecturer, so no, this isn’t quite like their courses. However, just, straight out, up front, heart on my sleeve – I am there as an advertisement portal to SAE. Like, come check it out, you might want to study here.
This will be it’s own thing, but it will also give an interesting insight into the SAE Courses so you can really get in there and check it out for future studies if you wish.
What if I come to one for the single price, and love it and want the awesome price for the rest?
Yeah, you should trust your gut and buy the whole course week thing, but I would say that… also tho… I would want to suss it out first as well.
So if you go with that choice, I can give you a code to buy the other weeks to come after week one.
I reckon I could attend and teach Singing and Songwriting Workshops all over the world and no two would be the same. I like exploring and trying new things, and I have dreamt this project up, so thanks for looking at it to see if it might wok for you.
Wait - it's at SAE - Are we going to be using the studio's to record??
Ohh! I’m pretty fancy, but I’m not that fancy. But, we will use the space to as much of it’s advantage as we can, and it is a working studio, so it will be a really awesome opportunity to create and sing and relax and use these amazing studio’s for your future recording dreams.
Being able to relax and create in a studio is such a golden wonderful thing. Maybe you’ll make a little community network in our group and you’ll be on your way to recording the songs you write during the course. Sounds pretty fun to me.
SAE do lots of Singing and Songwriting things, but none quite like this. The cross over is the awesome people who run things. The crew at SAE are bloody legends. Its worth checking out if you’re inclined towards this.
