Somethings Broken
When I sing this song,
I tell a story,
about my parents,
and how they made a boat in the 70’s and sailed the East Coast of Australia looking for industrial land with deep water beside it to make boats.
They found it in Ballina, in the centre of the Eastern Coastline of Australia.
And then they had me.
And so-
I grew up,
In a shed, playing with tools and boats and things and stuff.
Fixing stuff.
When somethings broken,
I fix it.
Lyrics
I feel like I recently invented socks
and I just wanted to shine a light on that.
In case, you’ve been meaning to say thank you,
I know that lately,
we haven’t spoken much…
And I’m wondering if it’s cause you have cold feet?
and so now, I’ve taken care of that.
We could resume our usual protocol
of cutting each other some slack.
These well worn journey’s I’ve been driving through,
they leave me frozen to the teeth
and I know it would be different
if you were there to meet.
If something’s broken, I fix it.
If somethings hurting, I kiss it.
If somethings hiding, I go out finding.
yeah, I’ve been missing you.
I feel like I recently invented hopscotch
diving over messages in chalk.
Though I can’t see them for the rain,
though it rains again and again, but I guess
we’ve been praying for that.
Cause if somethings missing from you, then it’s missing from me
if it’s lost out there, then it’s gone out to sea,
if something hiding, I go finding.
