I don’t tell every one about Summersong.

Mainly because it’s impossible to describe.

And when I start, I begin to feel like a crazy person.

It’s like you’re a chocoholic, and you’re trying to describe chocolate to someone that’s never had chocolate. It’s like you’re a coffee nazi, and you’re trying to share the joys you find every time you go to sleep, knowing you’re one more slumber away from your next cup of that thing that keeps you going.

In the bare basic bones of it:  Summersong Music Camp is an adult music camp held for one week in Lennox Head every January. You lug in all your clothes and instruments, and stay in very under crowded dorms with bunk beds. You line up and eat from a food line that has had all the regular kids food pushed away for a week to reveal endless salads and tasty treats. And you go to music classes. There’s about eleven a day. and you choose your most intriguing two or five classes and off you go. Attend as many or as little as you like, but stick with it all week.

It’s an institution. It’s a family. It’s the vibe.

About sixty people attend. Around half have attended before. Around half are new folk. Wandering around in a daze trying to decide if this thing it real. And by the end of it, vaguely thirty of them are your new best friends. (It’s hard to connect with every single person, but entirely possible).

Classes change from year to year, but there are always staple classes that never change. Because they are gold. ACapella choirs with Mr Tony Backhouse and Songwriting or guitar workshops with Kristina Olsen. If you have a joy for music, singing, songwriting or guitar playing, this is something that should be on your bucket list.

This year also features Mr Lloyd Spiegel. He’ll be teaching a few guitar classes. Check him out.

I have attended Summersong about seven times. I’ve actually lost count. It’s a little hazy. And last year I had the utter and complete joy of teaching one of the singing classes. This year, however, I won’t be there, and unbelievably  there are spaces still available – it usually books out in no time.

I found out about Summersong at a time in my life when I was feeling down. It was advertised at the bottom of some local musical email spam. And I thought. What the hell. It can’t hurt? And my life has been changed ever since.

I would just like to point out at this moment, that there is no focus on God, drugs, drinking, smoking, professional musicianship, vegetarianism, …… you are welcome to be who you are and do what you do. This is like a secret cult, which worships nothing but music and swimming in a lake.

So. I can’t say any more.

If you feel inclined, just from these words here, I encourage you to check it out and go, with an open heart. Expect nothing. And love everything.Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download
